Good rotas are harder than they look. We help.

We build tools that turn your rules, preferences and experience into rotas that hold up in practice, planned around how your team really works, not the other way round.

Built for teams juggling availability, skills, fairness, and last-minute changes.

Why rota planning is hard

Managers are balancing people, skills, time off, fairness, cost, and compliance all at once. One small change in the rota can ripple through everything else.

Availability changes constantly

Time off, sickness, and shift swaps mean the rota is moving every week.

Coverage has to be right

Every shift needs the right number of people, with the right skills, at the right time.

Fairness still matters

Hours, weekends, and unpopular shifts must be shared in a way teams trust.

What we do

Generate rotas in seconds

Build a first draft quickly, then refine from a strong starting point.

Respect skills and availability

Keep assignments aligned with who can work, and who is qualified.

Balance fairness and cost

Support practical decisions that work for the team and the business.

Planning rotas is not just filling shifts. It is handling constraints, preferences, and operational reality in one workflow.

Electric Gap turns that workflow into software you can reuse. You define your rules once, then generate rotas that hold up day to day and are easy to adjust when plans change.

How it works

A simple setup, then fast rota generation and practical editing.

Step 1

Add your team and rules

Set roles, availability, shift requirements, and key constraints for your business.

Step 2

Generate your rota

Create a rota built around your priorities, coverage needs, and fairness goals.

Step 3

Adjust and download

Make quick edits, resolve issues, and export a rota your team can use immediately.

Try the rota planner

We are currently working with a small number of teams to test and improve the tool. During this phase, the software is free to use.

Getting started is simple. Create an account, add your business information, and generate your first rota.

Who we are

Electric Gap is a two-person team. We met five years ago and quickly realised we wanted to build something together, combining deep technical problem-solving with a strong understanding of how organisations actually work. Our shared focus is on tackling real-world problems carefully, one at a time, starting with rota planning.

Bruno Camino Optimisation and software

Bruno works on designing optimisation algorithms and building reliable software for complex decision-making. His experience comes from academic research and applied engineering, including work at UCL and doctoral research at Imperial College London, where translating messy, real-world requirements into usable systems is a daily concern.

Christina Malcolm Product, strategy and real-world delivery

Christina brings experience from marketing and strategy, including time at McKinsey, and now works in government policy. Her focus is on how ideas become tools people actually use, balancing ambition with practicality, and making sure systems fit the organisations they are built for.

Help shape the tool

We are working closely with a small number of teams to improve the product quickly. If you want to help shape the next version, we would like to hear from you.
